What is the Mar Menor?
The Mar Menor is a semi-closed inland sea, separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a sand barrier 22km long called La Manga strip (La Manga translates as "the sleeve" from Spanish) . This inland sea is only 3 to 4km wide, and the strip separating it from the Mediterranean, has beaches on both sides, within 10min walk of each other. The Mar Menor has a unique warm climate, sandy beaches, shallow waters (max 7m depth) and an absence of strong currents. It is therefore the ideal place for families with children, or for those wishing to learn and practis a wide range of water-sports (water skiing, Kite surfing, Sailing, Diving, Windsurfing etc.).
